Throw a pirate themed party at Buccaneer Bay

September 19 was National Talk Like a Pirate day, so what better way to celebrate than with a pirate themed pool party for the kids at Buccaneer Bay? Outdoor pools have closed for the year, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t fun to be had at the pool. Buccaneer Bay boasts the best water park in the area and is perfect for a pirate themed party, whether it’s a birthday or just a get together. Check out some of these tips on throwing a pirate themed party that will be the talk of your kids’ friends for the school year.

Decorations
Skulls are your friend here. Get a black flag with a giant skull on it and hang it up against some fish netting to give it a deep sea, pirate look. You could also make a banner out of triangles of red and black and white stripped pieces of paper and fabric. If this was a pirate themed birthday party, this would be a perfect Happy Birthday sign. Fake swords always add a nice touch to dress up Buccaneer Bay and give it a true pirate themed party feeling. Treasure chests also make for easy and fun decorations that can also be used for filling with party favors or food.

Party Favors
Eye patches can never go wrong as easy and fun party favors. This will encourage kids (and adults alike) to truly participate in the festivities by learning to talk like a pirate. You could also provide a variety of plastic hooks for peoples’ hands to pretend they have a hook for a hand. These could easily be homemade using red solo cups and foil by poking a hole in the bottom of the cup for the hook. You could also fill one of the treasure chests with fake jewelry and gold so they can find the “loot.” Turn this into a game by putting sand into the treasure chest and bury the treasure to encourage kids to dig for it.

Food
No pirate themed party is complete without pirate food. An easy snack to offer is fill a treasure chest with individual bags of Pirate’s Booty popcorn. You can also make some small slider sandwiches, stick some pirate flags in them and label them Shipwreck Sandwiches. Put cheeseballs in a jar and name them Cannon Balls as a quick and easy snack. You can also stack fruit like grapes onto plastic sword food spears and make fruit swords. Talk with our event planners about what food is allowed at Buccaneer Bay for your pirate themed party.

A pirate themed party can be just what winter and fall calls for when the cabin fever starts to set in. Need some more ideas for your party at Buccaneer Bay? Check out our Pinterest page for more ideas, including decorations, food, and games.
